The Circus that Would be the Townsman

The Townsman staff were well and truly into the spirits of Cranbrook’s history on Friday, when as an entry into the window dressing and costume competition, they portrayed the story of Cranbrook Ed, via their very own circus.  Maybe inspired by Nik Wallenda, one employee successfully walked the length of the reception counter, both forwards and backwards, using only an umbrella to balance, while above the hazardous office floor.

A wooden hobby horse withstood the dare devil tricks of another employee.  The editor no less, donned a gas mask, (kept handy for volatile situations) and cardboard ears to play the central character and unfortunate victim, Cranbrook Ed.

Other characters displayed their talents while desperate Ed attempted to escape the pressure cooker atmosphere.  Unfortunately less stressful surroundings were not to be.

Alas, poor Ed was corned by merciless employees.

As circus music played and the story ended, a belly dancer, alias publisher, assisted with the annointing of Cranbrook's permanent memorial to that sad story.

Bravo Townsman staff - Encore, next year Parade?
