Project Heavy Duty

Project Heavy Duty is a program run by School District #5 and Mount Baker Secondary School in collaboration with large machine operating companies, Work Safe BC and the City.  This program gives grade 11, 12 and some younger students a chance to experience these machines close up, setting seeds for possible future careers.

  1. One of the dads who came with my grade 3s said he wished that the program had been around when he was in school. As it happens, he works one of the large machines at a mine in the Elk Valley.

Another student's grandfather helped to start Program Heavy Duty back in the late 1990s when the emphasis was more on forestry.
