Cranbrook Community Forest Work Bee


Swamping
Last Saturday, the Cranbrook Community Forest Society (CCFS) held its bi-annual work bee. The work bee is part of the ongoing eco-system restoration projects being held in the Forest.  The work involves the thinning of trees with the use of brush saws. Swampers then move the trees to the road so that they can be chipped. Removing the smaller trees improve overall Forest health as well as reducing fire hazard. The Cranbrook Community Forest Society works with the Ministry of Forestry and the Rocky Mountain Trench Society. The Society has been sucessful this year in obtaining funding from BC Hydro and Columbia Basin Trust. These monies will be put towards the ongoing efforts of the CCFS protect and improve the Forest for future generations of our community. The next ecosystem will be held on Sept 24.
