3 Crows Farm - Cranbrook's Own Curtis Stone

Last summer we posted the story of Curtis Stone whose backyard farming project made an impression on various news stations throughout the province.  What made his project even more exciting was the fact he did all his 'farming' transportation with a bicycle.

Well, right here in Cranbrook and farming approximately nine city back yards we have Christan Kimber. and his family ....and yes, he too uses a bicycle.

Three Crows Farm is a multi-site urban farm run by Christian Kimber and his family.  Gardens across Cranbrook contribute to the overall farm production.   By contracting with home owners who are willing to turn over their garden plots to cultivation, this family is able to grow many vegetable crops for sale locally.  The arrangement is perfect for those who are unable to tend their gardens or simply do not have the time but are willing to allow someone else to use their land productively.  For seniors who do not wish to leave their own home but who cannot cope with a large vegetable plot anymore, this can be a perfect solution. Both the urban farmer and the home owner benefit from this great arrangement.

3 Crows Farm's fabulous produce can be found at Cranbrook's Saturday Market but you need to be there early.  That beautiful rainbow chard last week was sold out very quickly and no wonder - it was fresh, tender and delicious.

  1. I applaud Christian Kimber on his Three Crows Farm program. Forward thinking. Good use of existing garden spaces in town.
