Affordable Housing Groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today at Baker Park to celebrate the  36 unit housing development geared towards low income seniors and people with disabilities.  All three levels of government as well as  Columbia Basin Trust contributed monies (totally more that $5.6 million) and/or land towards this co-operative effort. Present for the groundbreaking were Cranbrook Mayor Scott Manjak, MP Jim Abbott, and MLA Bill Bennett along with Columbia Basin Trust Chairman Garry Merkel. Also in attendance were city councillors Liz Schatchneider, Bob Wetham, and Angus Davis.  Mayor Manjak indicated that it was vision and a willingess to work with key partners that brought the project to fruition.
