One of the recommendations forwarded in a new report issued by QUEST (Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow), a coalition of government and industry players, is to promote SmartGrowth policies. The use of SmartGrowth principles will greatly reduce greenhouse emissions and energy consumption. The byproduct of this would be job creation and cost savings to local municipalities. Municipalities have the ability to lead this movement without great influxes of monies or influence from the provincial or federal governments.
