Administration Updates
Deer warning signs will be put up at various locations depending on advice from the Deer Advisory Committee or from a member of the public.
Engineering - Work on capital road paving projects have commenced and will start in earnest in August.
Wastewater Improvements are moving forward with a total expenditure of over $26 million.
Rails to Trails improvements are continuing. The R2T Advisory Committee
has been working on various initiatives including KM posting, noxious weed control, pothole repair, and dangerous tree removal. Washrooms and benches are also being planned.

9.1 and 9.2 Letters from the UBCM (Union of BC Municipalities)regarding the Provincial Governments Family First policies and a response to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business report on fair business taxation.
9.4 A Letter from the Sam Steele Society thanking the City of Cranbrook for its ongoing support of Sam Steele Days
9.5 Letter from the RDEK -highlights from their board meeting of July 8.
9.7 Letter of Thanks from the United Way Campaign to the City of Cranbrook regarding their support during the R2T fundraiser.
9.9. Letter from Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development regarding job and economic stimulation. The province has provided the City of Cranbrook $371,000 in grants to date this year.
9.12 Letter from the Early Childhood Development Committee asking for an inkind donation from the City to expand Generations Playground
9.13 Letter from JCI asking for a $2500 donation from the City to complete signage for Moir Park
9.14. Letter from the United Way asking for their continued support of the Park on Us Campaign which has raised a significant amount of money for the charity. They are also requesting permission to hold a BBQ.
Business Arising
10.1 Councillor Bob Whetham has put forward the following resolution.
"That Administration prepare a policy for landscaping and maintenance of City and Ministry of Transportation boulevard."
Committee Recommendations
11.2 That the City allocate funds in the amount of $13000 to procure a contractor to carry out an urban deer cull. That members of the Urban Deer Committees terms be extended to August 31, 2012.
11.3 Recommendation from the R2T advisory committee to call the R2T the NorthStar Rails to Trails.
New Business
12.1 That the City put forth a submission for the FCM (Federation of Canadian Municipalities)Sustainability Award for our waste water management system.
12.2 To amend the Terms of Reference for the Integrated Sustainability Plan Committee to reflect a change in mandate, scope, and membership.
12.4 To seek financing of a fall debenture in the amount of $3.3 million dollars for improvements to the waste water system.
12.5 Continuation of the Free Skate Program between the Kinsmen Club and the City of Cranbrook
By-laws
13.1 To consider first, second, and third readings of a bylaw to establish an athletic commission to oversee regulated sports events.
13.2 Council gives third reading to City of Cranbrook Elections Bylaw 3724-2011.
13.3 To consider the first reading of an amendment to the Official Community Plan (OCP) to
1) Expand the OCP boundary to encompass two newly incorporated properties on the OCP map
2) To designate the properties as Parks/Institutional/Recreational land use designation
