Notice of Dissolution for Citizens of a Livable Cranbrook

On June 20th of this year 2017, Citizens for a Livable Cranbrook Society was officially dissolved.  The remaining funds are being transferred to the Community Forest Society, which was one of the reasons we organized - to protect it from unnecessary city expansion and development.

This blog, the Cranbrook Guardian will remain as a record of our activity during the time we existed.  We will maintain our email address for an undetermined period of time as we still do receive email requests for information.   This blog has proved to be a useful reference with many of our photographs and articles being used by other organizations.

We thank you, our readers for asking us to continue this work.  Our hope however, is that at the right time there will be additional new faces who care and have time enough to examine issues and provide alternatives to how our home town develops sustainably and in an environmentally sensitive way.

Seeing a thriving Farmer’s Market, a community forest that has been protected and is the envy of many municipalities, a city tree planting program are just a few of the changes that give us hope.  There is still much work to do to protect more of our heritage, our parks and public spaces, to recognize the value of the arts and heritage in the economic development of the city, to provide low cost housing and much more.

For now, it is time for those of us who were involved in the active and forward thinking group known as Citizens for a Livable Cranbrook to enjoy the trails.
