Free, Radon Public Forum – Thursday, February 26th

An exciting announcement – with the support of Health
Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society is hosting Cranbrook’s second Radon Public
Information Forum. The Forum will feature key note speaker, Doug Kladder who is
recognized as a leader in radon education and mitigation across North America.
Doug is the principal author of the book “Protecting Your Home from Radon in
Canada” and is travelling from the United States to speak at the forum.
The presentation will begin at 7pm and an open
question period will follow from 8-9pm. Radon test kits will be available for a
$15.00 donation. The presentation is at the College of the Rockies in room 250
on Thursday, February 26, 2015.
About Radon: Radon is a naturally occurring gas in the ground that
can get into your home undetected. You can’t see, smell or taste radon, and
long-term exposure to high levels increases your risk of developing lung
cancer. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, only second to
tobacco. Radon is responsible for 16% of all lung cancer deaths. The only way
to know if your home has radon is to test. Testing is easy and inexpensive and
measures can be taken to reduce radon levels. Learn more by attending the
