Exhibit Opening at Cranbrook and District Arts Council Gallery

The 'Let Them Run' salmon themed exhibit opened in the Cranbrook and District Arts Council Gallery Friday evening.

This exhibit was assembled by West and East Kootenay Artists after an outdoor weekend, learning about the salmon that once swam so freely in our river systems.  

Marisa Phillips introduced the exhibit and described the group's hands on experiences while gaining more knowledge about the fish.

Gerry Nellestijn, Chair of the Columbia Round Table and Coordinator of Salmo Watershed Stream Keepers Society also spoke and read a moving poem about the changes brought about by humans in the many river systems of our region, during this last century.

Other guests and artists also made the trip from the West Kootenay for this exhibit opening.

This exhibit is open until the end of the month and already some Cranbrook students have been learning about salmon through art.

The gallery asks that classroom teachers please call Marisa at the office at 250-426-4223 should they wish to book a time to bring a class.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday 11:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am to 2:00pm.  The public is welcome during any of those hours.
