Future Bear Gets a Face Wash.

Future bear got a clean-up this week and looked more like a dragon than a bear while its form was blasted with compressed carbon dioxide, so cold it formed solid particles which act in a similar way to sand being blasted on to the surface.
This sculpture was a commission of Nelson, BC artist John McKinnon in 2004.  The work stands ten feet high and was constructed of steel parts including a sprocket chain, cable and vehicle parts.  It is modelled after the bear used as the symbol for Mt Baker sports teams. It is unpainted.
