Trans Canada Trail Designation for the North Star Trail

Frank Fortie and Francis Allen
The sun shone warmly on an energetic and enthusiastic crowd that gathered on the Wycliffe, North Star Trail Bridge for the Trans Canada Trail Designation Ceremony and plaque unveiling on Saturday, June 2nd.

A number of dignitaries spoke to those cyclists, walkers and  local residents and who were present for the ceremony.

Frank Fortie who at one time owned much of the land which surrounded this part of the railway also worked for CP Rail for forty nine and one half years.  He still lives in the vicinity of the trail and has seen great changes in the area.

Joseph Cross who rides the trail regularly.

Terry Jeffers and her grandchildren, also regular trail users.
Bob Whetham and Al Skukas who originally walked the rail bed some 7 years ago and had this vision for the trail - a great day for them both.
