Flowers for February

While Vancouverites and Island dwellers are enjoying their first snowdrops we can enjoy indoor bulb displays - many of the stores have some lovely selections of Hyacinth, miniature Daffodils and Primula ready to enjoy.

Hippeastrum better known as Amaryllis native of South Africa comes in may shades of pink and red.  Cut off the flowering stem when over and keep feeding the leaves and bulb to fatten up a flower bud for next season.  Allow to dry out in September. Trim leaves, repot and enjoy again.

  1. Thanks for the tips on the Amaryllis. They are a dramatically colourful display in winter, but I keep missing the September time to cut it back and have once again missed the winter display.
